Taj Mosque AgraAccording to Muslim law, it was obligatory for each mausoleum to have a place of prayer near it. So at the western end of the platform, Isa Muhammad had a superb mosque built of red sandstone, surmounted by three domes whose color and proportions set off still more dazzlingly the whiteness of the Taj.

It measures 210 feet (64 meters) in length and 90 feet (27 meters) in width and is raised on a slight plinth. On the exterior, the Mosque has Pietra dura exertion twining across its spandrels. The flooring has been done in velvet red, sparkling and exceedingly fine material that provides a base for the 539 black marble prayer carpets laid out neatly. The interiors of the mosque are engraved with exquisite Calligraphy. The name of Allah and Verses from the Holy Qur’an has been used profusely all over the mosque.
